WALK

Get off one stop early and walk

A commute routine: alight one stop early and walk 10–15 scroll-free minutes—turning daily transit into a light wellness block.

한 정류장 일찍 내려 걷기

This is a daily commute routine. Get off one stop early and walk so transit becomes light wellness—not another scroll session.

Even on days without a workout slot, the commute already exists. The problem is that it hardens into seated screen time. One stop is usually 800m–1.2km, about 10–15 minutes on foot. It fails less often than a gym plan and repeats whenever weather allows.

Choose the segment

Confirm the “one stop early” path has safe sidewalks. Avoid stretches that force you along fast roads. Default: one stop before work in the morning, one stop before home at night. For the first week, evenings only is fine—mornings break more easily under lateness stress.

How to trigger it

The door opening is the cue. When the prior stop is announced, lower earbud volume and stand. Keep the phone pocketed; after three mapped walks, go screen-free on familiar streets.

What to do / not do

Skip replies, short video, and news. Optional: match breath to steps (four in, four out), notice sky and season, pick one remaining task mentally. No forced productivity. The point is transition, not output.

Weather, bags, safety

Skip in heavy rain, heat, or ice; substitute one flight of stairs that day. With heavy luggage, walk half the usual distance. Avoid dark alleys; use one earbud or none. Safety outranks wellness goals.

One-line logging

A single calendar emoji is enough. At four days a week, call it established—and do not greedily jump to two stops. Stretching distance turns a commute routine into a burden. Keeping one stop stable is stronger for daily life.

How it differs from other transit routines

Silent rides or podcast walks change what you hear; alighting early changes how much you move. You do not need both on the same day. Alternate walking days and ear-rest days so commute routines do not cannibalize each other.
