Hand cream before going to sleep

Moisturize the backs of your hands and wrists for 2 minutes before going to sleep. A small habit that helps prevent the stratum corneum from losing moisture overnight.

Moisturizing effect of hand cream

This is a daily wellness routine you can use right away. Try “Hand cream before going to sleep” to gently reset your body’s rhythm.

Hands exposed to keyboards and detergents all day have a thinner layer of dead skin cells and are prone to cracking in the evening. There are many days when I only apply cream to my face and forget about my hands. Two minutes before going to bed can provide recovery time for the area around your nails and wrists. In winter, the backs of your hands dry faster in a heated room.

If the air is dry at night, the backs of your hands lose moisture faster than during the day. When the stratum corneum collapses, gaps are created where bacteria can easily enter. A dab of cream helps fill in the gaps.

Your wrists are bent all day long as you type on a keyboard. If you rotate your wrist while applying the cream, the tension in your radial muscle and wrist joint will also be relieved. If your finger joints are stiff, bend each knuckle one by one and rub the cream into it.

After brushing your teeth, putting down your smartphone

The timing is 20 to 30 minutes before lying down in bed, right after brushing your teeth. After rinsing your hands, apply the cream while it is slightly damp for better absorption. Take a walnut-sized amount in your palm and spread it onto the back of your hand, between your fingers, and onto the inside of your wrist.

Rubbing your wrist in a circular motion for 15 seconds will slightly increase blood flow to the skin toward the radial artery and relieve tension. Do not press the cuticles under the nails, but only cover them with a thin layer of cream. If you wait a minute before picking up your phone again, your screen will be less greasy.

Ingredients and quantity rather than scent

Strong scents can stimulate your sense of smell right before you fall asleep. A nearly unscented product containing shea butter or glycerin is better. If the amount is insufficient, the dead skin cells on the back of the hands crack again.

If your hands are severely cracked, there are days when you sleep wearing thin cotton gloves. After applying, do not look at the screen for one minute and just breathe while holding your fingers together. When you look at the back of your hand in the morning, you can immediately see the results of last night's two minutes. If you frequently crack under your nails, it is most likely due to dryness. After applying the cream, rub the area around your nails in a circular motion.

The back of the hand is forgotten as often as the face.

Cleansers and alcohol hand sanitizers strip your skin of its natural moisture barrier. Before applying the cream in the evening, rinse your hands with lukewarm water to reduce residual cleansing ingredients and improve absorption. Since the back of your hands has thicker dead skin cells than your face, sparing the amount will halve the effect. Keeping cream in the drawer next to your bed will make it a habit.

The hand is the body that records the day. Give your fingers a two-minute reward after a long day on the keyboard before going to bed. Start tomorrow morning with soft skin instead of cracked backs of your hands.

If you keep the cream in the drawer next to your bed, it will become a habit to follow immediately after brushing your teeth. The backs of your hands are forgotten as often as your face, so take some cream with you.
